    What Change means.

Okay these are Obama's stance on some of the major issues of America. Instead of pulling some dirt up about the guys haircare products, this just shows something Obama stands for. Mainly for the people who think that they know everything about the guy, but really doesnt know jack [censored] other than what they've been fed by the Mccain campaign. So if anyone wants to post Mccains stance on things, then I encourage it. Rather than looking ignorant bashing Obama with half-truths and whole-lies.

DENVER, Colorado (CNN) -- Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama called his acceptance speech on Thursday "the American Promise." It included a list of promises for change that he said, "We need right now."
Sen. Barack Obama addresses the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

Here is a look at what Obama said he would do, if elected, about a variety of topics:

    Taxes

    Obama said he would:

"? Cut taxes "for 95 percent of all working families."

"? "Eliminate capital gains taxes for the small businesses" and start-ups "that will create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow."

"? Advocate "a tax code that doesn't reward the lobbyists who wrote it, but the American workers and small businesses who deserve it."

"? "Stop giving tax breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas" and "start giving them to companies that create good jobs right here in America."

    Energy

    Obama said he would:

"? Set a goal that "in 10 years, we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East."

"? "Tap natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology and find ways to safely harness nuclear power."

"? "Help our auto companies retool, so that the fuel-efficient cars of the future are built right here in America." Video Watch Obama's acceptance speech »

"? Make it easier for Americans to afford U.S.-built, fuel-efficient cars.

"? Have the federal government "invest $150 billion over the next decade in affordable, renewable sources of energy -- wind power and solar power and the next generation of biofuels." Doing so, he said, would "lead to new industries and 5 million new jobs that pay well and can't ever be outsourced."

    Education

    Obama said he would:

"? "Finally meet our moral obligation to provide every child a world-class education."

"? Find more money for early childhood education and recruit teachers with better pay while also pushing "higher standards and more accountability."

"? Make sure young Americans can afford college if they serve their community or country. Photo See the highlights of the Democratic convention's last day »

    Health care

    Obama said he would:

"? "Finally keep the promise of affordable, accessible health care for every single American."

"? Lower premiums for those who have health care and let those without coverage "get the same kind of coverage that members of Congress give themselves."

"? Make sure insurance companies "stop discriminating against those who are sick and need care the most."

    Labor law

    Obama said he would:

"? Provide paid sick days and "better family leave" for workers.

"? Close the pay gap between the sexes.

    Bankruptcy law

    Obama said he would:

"? Change bankruptcy law "so that your pensions are protected ahead of CEO bonuses."

    Federal spending

    Obama said he would:

"? Pay for "every dime" of his plans' costs "by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don't help America grow."

"? Cut federal programs that don't work and improve those that do while reducing their costs.

    National defense

    Obama said he would:

"? "End this war in Iraq responsibly and finish the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan."

"? "Only send our troops into harm's way with a clear mission and a sacred commitment to give them the equipment they need in battle and the care and benefits they deserve when they come home."

"? "Rebuild our military to meet future conflicts."

    Foreign relations

    Obama said he would:

"? "Restore our moral standing" in the world.

"? Provide "tough, direct diplomacy that can prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and curb Russian aggression."

"? "Build new partnerships to defeat the threats of the 21st century: terrorism and nuclear proliferation, poverty and genocide, climate change and disease."

    Abortion

    Obama said he would:

"? Work with people on all sides of the issue to reduce unwanted pregnancies.

    Gun control

    Obama said he would:

"? Uphold the Second Amendment but also keep "AK-47s out of the hands of criminals."

    Gay rights

    Obama said he would:

"? Help ensure that gays and lesbians have the right "to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination."

    Illegal immigration

    Obama said he would:

"? Pursue policies that don't result in separated families.

"? Discourage companies from undercutting American wages by hiring illegal workers.

    Re: What Change means.

Your post proves this: how does he plan to do it? I don't give a rat's ass what he says - I'm interested in HOW he will do it. And he doesn't have a clue, he's merely throwing out what he thinks folks want to hear. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows, especially after the Saddleback debate, that Obama is clueless. The only reason he received the nomination is because of early primary returns - had Hillary had a stronger start, and had not most Americans responded like lambs led to the slaughter, then he would have fallen far short in receiving the nomination. Bill and Hill know this, and that's why they're so pissed about it. Provide me with the mechanics, the ABCs, of how he will accomplish these great goals. He can't, and you can't - because he himself doesn't know. Change - that's all he's said, all he knows, because that's all his bumbling handlers have told him. He may be able to organize a few mad radical blacks to take over a housing unit, but is woefully inadequate and deficient in running a country.

    Absolutely excellent post, and point.

I said I probably would vote for McCain, but this is the same stuff that the Rep. party swallowed twice in the last 8 years without even blinking. Perhaps those at the RNC should have wiped their chins before leaving so they could come back and haunt McCain later with a gravy stain.

"Everybody has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth." -- Mike Tyson

It's great that Obama has a plan. McCain has plans too. Until they get into office, we'll not know whether or not they'll be able to execute them one way or another. You can say that McCain's going to move forward and make things better, but we don't know that. We can say the same thing regarding Obama--but we just don't know. I've heard people saying Obama's going to be getting "on the job training" if he's elected and that it's not a good thing--well, since when was McCain POTUS in the past? No elected office in the world is exactly like POTUS, so everyone that goes into it (unless they're running for a 2nd term) has no experience as POTUS. Doesn't matter if you're a continual term Senator or a relative political newbie...you still haven't been president.

Change is gonna have to come from all of us in society, regardless of who becomes president. We need change, because the last 8 years haven't been the best as a whole, regardless of if some people have prospered (mostly the wealthy, who would have been alright either way). If we knew 100% sure that one candidate or the other would be able to magically come in and change it all and make it better--everyone would vote for him--the actual truth is, that's not going to happen. It's gonna take all of us pulling together to make things better, regardless of where your vote or my vote goes.

Paper plans are like paper airplanes, they usually don't fly long. I just think it is funny to see someone defending a party that hasn't done anything in 8 years, except drive up the debt and wear out the armed forces, while shouting, "We are not going to increase taxes." Then talk about somebody else having to.

    Re: What Change means.

I don't defend a party or vote for a party. I have voted both dem and pub. It is the person I look at. But I will admit the dems have turned me off the past few years with such a shift to the left. I can't bring myself to trust the Presidency to a "community organizer", whatever that is, who has approximately 140 days on the job in the Senate.

There are too many unanswered questions about this man. And him refusing to explain anything doesn't help. I can't understand why he is keeping his college life such a secret. What could that possibly hurt? The left wing press has raised all these questions about Sarah Palin but they protect B HUSSEIN and refuse to ask him any kind of tough question. But asking about his college life shouldn't be such a tough question. Why won't they ask him about Bill Ayers? Why won't they ask him about Tony Rezko? Why won't they ask him why he said he had NEVER been a muslim? Why won't they ask him about his association with the Weathermen?

    Re: What Change means.

Trust it to a community organizer? Palin has been the same thing, thats all a mayor does. And what questions about his college career, there hasnt been any secrets about it. Where do you get this stuff? And he hasnt been a muslim before, only proof of it was when it was put on his elementary school papers in Jakarta only because his mom used his stepfather Soetoro religion which is common for someone to do there. Only questions that are being asked are the ones you are asking which can be answered by looking it up and not on a Obama bashing/Mccain loving website.

But an Ob-uh-ma loving/McCain bashing site is perfectly neutral and believable?

Oh, and FYI, I didn't know Sarah Palin was a candidate for POTUS.

I dont visit the BS sites like you do, dont think youll find one that i have posted on here. And Mccain is pretty old and doesnt have a clean record of health, so theres a good chance Palin could end up President..thats why I mentioned that.
